This is a screenshot from the Bush campaign's latest TV ad, which you can watch on their website. Now, I posted about how the Bush campaign is lying about what Kerry actually said the other day. Here's what he said:
We have to get back to the place we were, where terrorists are not the focus of our lives, but they're a nuisance. As a former law-enforcement person, I know we're never going to end prostitution. We're never going to end illegal gambling. But we're going to reduce it, organized crime, to a level where it isn't on the rise. It isn't threatening people's lives every day, and fundamentally, it's something that you continue to fight, but it's not threatening the fabric of your life.
But you can see from this screenshot what they've done. It's not just that they've taken Kerry's words out of context. They've taken four words seemingly at random: "Terrorists," "Nusiance," "Gambling," and "Prositution." So that even though they actually read part of the what Kerry said, namely, "We have to get back to the place... where terrorists are... a nuisance," if you didn't listen to the quotation carefully, and you don't know the surrounding context, what you see on the screen is the important thing to you. You are left with the impression that Kerry said that terrorism is a nuisance, like prostitution or gambling. And of course he said nothing of the sort.
Typical lying republicans.

This kills me.
One of the things that’s interesting about this is that the point Kerry is making is in the same spirit as Bush’s remarks immediately following 9/11. Bush, and many other politicians, both rep and dem, told us to live our lives as normal, or “the terrorists win.” We were told to go out and go to the movies, buy a car, go to dinner, in short, to keep the economy growing and keep our lives as normal as possible. Kerry is saying the same thing. I guess folks missed the last part when he said – “it's something that you continue to fight, but it's not threatening the fabric of your life.”

No, that is not it at all.
The right-wing fascists that have been putting out this type of propaganda for decades have made inroads.
Many idiots now complacently sit glued to the television getting brainwashed, sort of like 'd'.
They are lulled to sleep with a false sense of security by testosterone-laden propaganda and policies that promise to protect us from immigrants, welfare queens, gays, Moslems etc. by putting the benevolent moral Christian 'conservatives' in charge of everything.
Just let us do all the hard work for you, and go back to watching your football game.
Trust us, we know what we are doing. We will make everyone secure and filthy rich.
Even though they know better, even though they know they are getting sold on bullshit, many people actually start to believe this crap, and before you know it they cannot distinguish reality from fantasy.
Again, just think of 'd' for a minute.
We stand perched on the precipice of a fascist corporate aristocrady here in the US that controls everything from who is allowed to fly on airplanes to where demonstrators can protest to what genes get spliced into our environment.
This concentration of wealth and power in the hands of a few is very, very dangerous.
It has the ability to bend people's minds and destroy our democracy. It has the ability to end civilization as we know it. It has the ability to run the human race into extinction.
This is what makes the 2004 election so vital to our national security. It is a choice between democracy and fascism, plain and simple, and it could ultimately lead to a choice between survival and death for us all.
The choice we make this time is for keeps.

Here you will learn that the intelligence community is defecting en-masse and leaking its reports to counteract administration lies about the situation in Iraq.
When a Republican president loses the confidence of the CIA, the administration is doomed. Bush is toast.
