A conservative commentator on this site reminds me of an interesting point that is made less than it should be. Conservatives seem to be fond of talking about Al-Jazeera these days. Frist said of Durbin:
Well, when you say something that appears all over Al Jazeera, you have a lot of work to do.
Karl Rove, of course:
Al Jazeera now broadcasts to the region the words of Senator Durbin, certainly putting America's men and women in uniform in greater danger. No more needs to be said about the motives of liberals.
I wonder if Frist and Rove ever look at the Al-Jazeera webpage. I don't, but clicking over there I find this kind of stuff:
White House "disconnected from the reality" of Iraq: Two U.S. Republican lawmakers have criticized President Bush's administration's Iraq policy, saying that the White House is "disconnected from the reality" and should tell the American public the reality in Iraq.
If Rove and Frist's standard for whether or not remarks are out of bounds is whether or not Al-Jazeera reprints them, or (we infer), uses them as anti-US propaganda -- if that's the standard, well, maybe Mssrs. Frist and Rove should spend a little more time looking in their own backyard before they shoot their mouths off.
