The WaPo reports that Jerome Corsi, of Swift Boat Veterans for Truth fame, is planning to run against John Kerry in 2008:
Now insurance broker Jerome Corsi says he is taking aim at a different target: Kerry's Senate seat.
"I plan to move to Massachusetts later this year and to run against John Kerry in 2008," said Corsi, 58, who is a managing partner at the U.S. Financial Marketing Group and lives in Denville, N.J. "I plan to begin working with the Republican Party to see if I am the candidate they want."

Corsi, you may remember, is the co-author of "Unfit for Command: Swift Boat Veterans Speak Out Against John Kerry," and certified racist. Media Matters, you might also remember, collected some of his comments. Here is a sampling:
• Corsi on Islam: "a worthless, dangerous Satanic religion"
• Corsi on Catholicism: "Boy buggering in both Islam and Catholicism is okay with the Pope as long as it isn't reported by the liberal press"
• Corsi on Muslims: "RAGHEADS are Boy-Bumpers as clearly as they are Women-Haters -- it all goes together"
• Corsi on "John F*ing Commie Kerry": "After he married TerRAHsa, didn't John Kerry begin practicing Judiasm? He also has paternal grandparents that were Jewish. What religion is John Kerry?"
• Corsi on Senator "FAT HOG" Clinton: "Anybody ask why HELLary couldn't keep BJ Bill satisfied? Not lesbo or anything, is she?"
Perhaps before Mr. Corsi calls the moving company he should do some research. He'd find that Catholics, whose religion he insulted above, represent 49% of the population in Massachusetts (that as of 1990; I doubt it's changed much). So unless every single Protestant, Jew, and Muslim votes against John Kerry, I'd say Corsi doesn't even have a vague chance. My guess is that Muslims won't vote for him. Given that he said their religion is Satanic and all.
But let's give Corsi credit. At least he won't really apologize:
Corsi, who is not a military veteran, teamed up with former naval officer John O'Neill to write "Unfit for Command," which focused attention on Kerry's Vietnam War service record. But just before the book went on sale, Corsi apologized for inflammatory postings about Muslims, Catholics and the pope that he made a year earlier on the Free Republic Web site. "That is old news," Corsi said in a telephone interview this week. "First of all, as I have stated many times, they were written to be provocative, to stimulate debate, not as my true beliefs."
Yes, that was a good debate you stimulated, Mr. Corsi. "Jerome Corsi: racist or oblivious racist?" According to Media Matters, his "apology" was
In his interview on The Sean Hannity Show, Corsi said, "I apologize if anybody was offended by anything I said." Corsi then classified his comments (which included calling Pope John Paul II "senile"; asking if Senator "HELLary" Clinton is "a lesbo or anything"; and calling Muslims "RAGHEADS" and "Boy-Bumpers") as "silly," saying he "thought they were jokes" and complaining that they were taken "completely out of context."
Of course, that's not an apology at all, and even if he had issued an apology that was a real apology, he still wouldn't have a chance. Kerry got 62% of the vote in the presidential race in Massachusetts, and 81% in his last Senate contest. My guess is that the people of that state wouldn't reward a person who wrote a book full lies about their preferred candidate. Just a guess.
But I would encourage Mr. Corsi to run. I know it's selfish of me, but it really be very satisfying to watch John Kerry wipe the floor with him.
